Founded by visionary individuals, BreakIt Media represents a catalyst for change in workplace dynamics. Anchored in the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), BreakIt dismisses companies' superficial commitment to these ideals. It fearlessly challenges the hypocrisy prevalent in work cultures, exposing the misalignment between professed values and actual practices.
As the commissioned Art Director leading the branding efforts from inception to completion, I orchestrated the design process. This involved crafting the logo, curating a loud color palette, and meticulously designing a 39-page pitch deck. Additionally, I produced eight captivating infographics and developed a dynamic website.
In initiating the design of BreakIt Media's brand, my first step was an in-depth study of counterculture movements led by marginalized groups advocating for justice. Analyzing movements like The Young Lords, The Sandinista Revolution, and Women in the Arab Spring proved invaluable. This exploration provided insights into the effective use of colors and patterns to convey diverse messages and emotions, alongside utilizing various mediums for widespread understanding. In conjunction with these movements, I drew inspiration from the spirited subcultures of the 1980s hardcore punk scene, the entirety of hip hop music, DPMs and camouflages, and New York City's distinctive graffiti styles. This amalgamation empowered me to craft visuals and imagery that have profound meanings and exude a vibrant and energetic aesthetic.
